Arabella Miller chosen as “brand highlight” by fashion trend bible

Filed under: Media — admin @ 6:28 pm

Fashion trend bible WGSN selected Arabella Miller organic cotton clothes from almost 400 brands at January’s Premier Kids fashion exhibition to be one of just ten style highlights from the show.

WGSN raved about our “colourful, character-driven illustrations” and said they were “quirkily reminiscent of popular Japanese flat graphics.”

We were thrilled to have this official endorsement from the fashion trade at our debut trade show.

Having Kids Can Turn You Green – says Arabella Miller

Filed under: Press Releases, Media — admin @ 7:17 pm

Here’s our latest news release:

A recent survey from UK organic children’s clothes company, Arabella Miller, found that 62% of parents said that they made greener choices after having children and 80% now defined themselves as a “green parent.”

The most popular “green options” were: eating more organic food (59%) and recycling more (59%). Others made healthy lifestyle changes such as cutting down on alcohol (50%), stopping smoking (24%), and eating more vegetarian meals (32%). Others have become more “green-fingered” with 53% starting to grow their own fruit and vegetables. One parent commented I’ve “more conscious awareness of everything I buy - asking questions, buying locally, seasonally and avoiding products that exploit either the environment or people as much as I can.” (more…)

Ethical Labels

Filed under: Media — admin @ 10:16 pm

This week’s Observer Magazine carried an interesting article about certification and the labelling of green products.

The journalist Lucy Siegle investigated  how meaningful these labels were. Here’s what she wrote about the Soil Association:

The Rolls-Royce of eco-labels, founded in 1946. Its standards of organic production go well above the Defra minimum (used as a maximum by other organic standards) ensuring the integrity of organic production. Standards do not permit the routine use of agrichemicals or pesticides and specify rotational grazing systems. It also has higher animal welfare specifications than standard organic systems. By 2009 all air-freighted produce must conform to these standards to retain the Soil Association logo.”

Great to see an independent endorsement of the Soil Association, particularly as today we had our first certification  inspection. We’ve just taken the further step to not just produce Soil Association garments but to become a licence-holder in our own right.
